Ci voleva l'esordio del film italiano tanto atteso per scalzare Moccia dal primo posto del box office sul quale stava arroccato da 2 settimane. Così, "Caos Calmo" di Antonello Grimaldi che porta sul grande schermo il romanzo di Sandro Veronesi, incassa nel primo weekend in uscita oltre 1 milione e mezzo di euro. Al secondo posto il kolossal francese "Asterix alle olimpiadi" con Gérard Depardieu e Clovis Cornillac con 1.281.550 euro. "Scusa ma ti chiamo amore" con Raoul Bova e Michela Quattrociocche conquista comunque la medaglia di bronzo e si avvia verso i 12 milioni di incassi totali mentre il regista e i protagonisti preparano le valigie per Los Angeles dove la pellicola sarà presentata alla terza edizione della rassegna di cinema italiano "Los Angeles Italia" insieme al documentario di Bertolucci "La strada del petrolio", a "Hotel Meina" di Carlo Lizzani e "Romanzo criminale" di Michele Placido che è atteso, anche, con la fiction di Giulio Base dedicata alla figura di Padre Pio. Tra gli altri debutti della settimana vanno bene l'horror "30 giorni di buio" diretto da David Slade e "La guerra di Charlie Wilson" di Mike Nichols, quarto e sesto posto, mentre confermano il gradimento del pubblico "Into the wild" di Sean Penn e "American Gangster" di Ridley Scott, rispettivamente settimo e ottavo. Scivolano, invece, bruscamente "Sogni e delitti" di Woody Allen, solo quinto, e il disaster movie prodotto da J.J. Abrams "Cloverfield" al nono posto.
Negli Usa, invece, scende al terzo posto il film dedicato al tour musicale di Hannah Montana, prodotto dalla Disney e dal titolo "Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour", mentre conquistano la vetta due commedie "Fool's Gold" con Kate Hudson e Matthew McConaughey e "Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins" con Martin Lawrence.
