Robert Downey Jr è 'Iron Man'

Sarà Robert Downey Jr a prestare il volto a Iron Man, il supereroe della Marvel che approderà presto sul grande schermo. L'attore, resco celebre da pellicole come 'Chaplin', 'America Oggi' e 'Good Night and Good Luck', vestirà i panni del mitico personaggio che, protetto da un'inattaccabile armatura rossa e dorata, riesce a volare e a sconfiggere i cattivi di turno con armi potenti e sempre più ingegnose.

Il film, che annovera nel cast Gwyneth Paltrow, Jeff Bridges e Terrence Howard oltre ai cammeo di Hilary Swank e William Hurt, dovrebbe uscire in Italia il 1 maggio e negli Usa il 2 maggio. La promozione, è partita con un trailer e un nuovo spot tv trasmesso la scorsa settimana all'interno degli ambiti spazi pubblicitari della diretta tv del Superbowl, la finale del campionato di football americano.

''Fino a qualche anno fa - ha spiegato al Los Angeles Times, il 43enne Downey Jr, tornato in piena attività negli ultimi quattro anni, dopo essersi liberato dalla dipendenza da alcool e droga - i film tratti dai fumetti erano cose superficiali negli obiettivi e piatti nelle sceneggiature e nei personaggi, che non meritavano l'interesse di nessuno. Ora non è più così e questo film è fantastico; è come recitare una versione americana di James Bond in una armatura volante fatta dalla Ferrari''.

Il film, costato circa 186 milioni di dollari, segna il debutto nella produzione dei neonati Marvel Studios, intenzionati a controllare più direttamente qualità e profitti dei film ispirati dai fumetti della casa madre.

Iron Man, creato nel 1963, approda sul grande schermo attualizzato. Protagonista della storia è il multimiliardario Tony Stark (Downey Jr) donnaiolo ed ex alcolista, geniale inventore di armi d'ultima generazione. Durante un viaggio in Afghanistan, Stark viene rapito da un gruppo di terroristi che gli impone di costruire per loro un missile. L'uomo, invece, con l'attrezzatura che gli mettono a disposizione, si costruisce un'avveniristica armatura in grado di volare, con cui riesce a scappare. Tornato negli Stati Uniti, Stark riflette sugli errori del suo passato e decide di iniziare a usare quella sua straordinaria ultima creazione a fin di bene, diventando Iron Man.

Nel film il nemico da sconfiggere è Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges, in versione calva), ex amico, cinico rivale d'affari, che sfida Iron Man con un'armatura altrettanto potente, diventando Iron Monger.

Secondo il regista Jon Favreau l'arma segreta del film è proprio Downey Jr, che si è preparato fisicamente allenandosi con i pesi e facendo arti marziali: ''Robert porta una profondità molto maggiore al personaggio di un fumetto. Inoltre è semplicemente uno dei migliori attori che c'è in giro''.

According to the director Jon Favreau the secret weapon of the film is Downey Jr., who has prepared physically training with weights and doing martial arts:''Robert brings a lot more depth to the character of a comic strip. Moreover, it is simply one of the best players that's in the lap''.
